Marimekko Chart
Column width is each category share of the total, segment height is each part share of its column. Two proportions in one picture.

Width carries the share
Every column is as wide as its share of the grand total. On Superstore, West is 32 percent of sales and South is 17, and the columns are exactly that wide before a single label is read.

Order the stack the way you read it
Keep the data order or put the largest segment at the bottom of every column, which is what makes columns comparable down the page. Labels can show the share, the value, or both.

A wide catalogue stays readable
Set a column cap and the rest merge into one column holding their true share, instead of a tail of three-pixel slivers nobody can read or click. A label too wide for its own column is left out rather than printed over its neighbour, and the chart says how many it left out.
